Configuring a Stateful HA Pair | 39Configuring High Availability SettingsThe first task in setting up HA after completing Initial Setup,page 16 is configuring the High Availability > Settings pageon the Primary Dell SonicWALL security appliance. Once youconfigure HA on the Primary appliance, it communicates thesettings to the Secondary appliance.Note: The Dell SonicWALL appliances must be registered andlicensed before completing the configurationprocedures.To configure HA on the Primary Dell SonicWALL, log in to yourPrimary appliance and perform the following steps:1. Navigate to the High Availability > Settings page.2. On the General tab, select Active / Standby from theMode drop-down menu.3. Select the Enable Stateful Synchronization checkbox.4. Next, navigate to the HA Devices tab and type in the serialnumber for the Secondary appliance.5. Navigate to the HA Interfaces tab and specify an HAControl Interface.6. Click Apply to save these settings. All settings will besynchronized to the Secondary appliance, and theSecondary appliance will reboot.Configuring HA Monitoring SettingsAfter configuring the HA settings, you need to configure theMonitoring settings for the LAN or WAN.This includesconfiguring unique IP addresses for each appliance in theStateful HA pair. You will need to log into the appliances usingthese IP addresses in order to complete the registration processfrom within SonicOS, which will allow license sharing andsynchronization.Navigate to the High Availability > Monitoring page toconfigure the Monitoring settings.1.
