Configuring a Stateful HA Pair | 41Configuring HA Advanced SettingsThe following settings are optional. You can configure thefollowing settings from the High Availability > Advanced page.1. Adjust the Heartbeat Interval to control how often the twounits communicate. The default and recommendedminimum is 1000 milliseconds.2. The Failover Trigger Level sets the number of heartbeatsthat can be missed before failing over. Dell SonicWALLrecommends leaving this field at its default setting, andadjusting later if needed.3. Set the Probe Interval for the interval in seconds betweencommunication with upstream or downstream systems.The recommended setting is an interval of at least 5seconds. You can set the Probe IP Address(es) on theHigh Availability > Monitoring screen.4. Set the Probe Count, which is the number of consecutiveprobes before the appliance considers the network pathunreachable or broken. The default count is 3.5. The Election Delay Time is the number of secondsallowed for internal processing between the two units in theHA pair before one of them takes the primary role.Dell SonicWALL recommends leaving this field at itsdefault setting, then tuning later if needed.6. Enable the Active / Standby Failover only when ALLaggregate links are down checkbox to treat theaggregated link as down (causing a failover) only if allmember links are down.7. Select the Include Certificates/Keys checkbox to havethe appliances synchronize all certificates and keys.8. Click Synchronize Settings to synchronize the settingsbetween the Primary and Secondary appliances.9. Click Synchronize Firmware if you previously uploadednew firmware to your Primary appliance while theSecondary appliance was offline.10. Click Force Active / Idle Failover to force a failoverbetween your Primary and Secondary appliances.11. Click Accept to retain the settings on this screen.HA License Configuration OverviewYou can configure HA license synchronization by associatingtwo Dell SonicWALL security appliances as HA Primary and HASecondary on MySonicWALL.You must purchase a single set of security service licenses forthe HA Primary appliance. To use Stateful HA, you must firstactivate the Stateful High Availability Upgrade license for theprimary unit in SonicOS. This is automatic if your appliance isconnected to the Internet.
