Configuration informationThis section describes the minimum required configuration to run the Power On Self Test. it also describes the configurationvalidation process.Topics:• Minimum configuration to POST• Configuration validationMinimum configuration to POSTPower on self test (POST) has configuration requirements. The components listed below are the minimum configuration to POST:● One processor in processor socket 1● One memory modules (DIMM) in slot A1● One power supply unit● System board + LOM/OCP card + RIO cardConfiguration validationWhen the system is powered on, information about the following is obtained from the CPLD, and backplane memory maps andanalyzed:● Installed cables● Risers● Backplanes● Power supplies● Floating card (fPERC, adapter PERC , BOSS)● ProcessorThis information forms a unique configuration. iDRAC maintains qualified configurations that are stored in a table. iDRACcompares the new configuration to the configurations in the table. One or more sensors are assigned to each of the configuration elements. During POST, any configuration validation erroris logged in the System Event Log (SEL) or LifeCycle (LC) log. The reported events are categorized in the configurationvalidation error table.Table 31. Configuration validation errorError Description Possible cause andrecommendations ExampleConfigErrorA configuration element within theclosest match contains somethingthat is unexpected and doesnot match any Dell qualifiedconfiguration.Wrong configuration Config Error: Backplanecable CTRS_SRC_SA1 and BP-DST_SA1The elements that are reported inHWC8010 errors indicate that anelement is incorrectly assembled.Check the placement of theelement, such as the cable orriser, in the system.Config Error : SLCable PLANAR_SL7 andCTRL_DST_PA1544 Configuration information
