We recommend using outdoor antennasand 75 Ω/ohms coaxial cables.For heat dispersal, leave at least 10 cm of spacebetween the top, back and sides of this unitand the wall or other components.10 cm or morewall10 cm or more2 CAUTIONS ON INSTALLATION• Switching the input function when input jacksare not connectedA clicking noise may be produced if the inputfunction is switched when nothing is connected tothe input jacks. If this happens, either turn down theMASTER VOLUME control or connect componentsto the input jacks.• Muting of PRE OUT jacks, HEADPHONE jacks andSPEAKER terminalsThe PRE OUT jacks, HEADPHONE jack andSPEAKER terminals include a muting circuit.Because of this, the output signals are greatlyreduced for several seconds after the power switchis turned on or input function, surround mode or anyother-set-up is changed. If the volume is turned upduring this time, the output will be very high after themuting circuit stops functioning. Always wait untilthe muting circuit turns off before adjusting thevolume.• Whenever the power switch is in the £ OFFstate, the apparatus is still connected on AC linevoltage.Please be sure to unplug the cord when youleave home for, say, a vacation.3 CAUTIONS ON HANDLING4 FEATURES1. Dolby Pro Logic II decoderDolby Pro Logic II is a new format for playing multi-channel audio signals that offers improvementsover conventional Dolby Pro Logic. It can be used todecode not only sources recorded in DolbySurround but also regular stereo sources into fivechannels (front left/right, center and surroundleft/right). In addition, various parameters can be setaccording to the type of source and the contents, soyou can adjust the sound field with greaterprecision.2. Dolby Digital decoderDolby Digital, a digital discrete system in which thedifferent channels are completely independent,recreates “three-dimensional” sound fields (soundswith a sense of distance, movement and position)with no crosstalk between channels for greaterreality. In addition, the 5 channels (excluding the 0.1channel for low frequency effects) have a playbackrange extending to 20 kHz, the same as the rangeof CDs, thus resulting in clearer, more richlyexpressive sound.3. DTS (Digital Theater Systems) decoderDTS provides up to 5.1 channels of wide-range,high fidelity surround sound, from sources such aslaser disc, DVD and specially-encoded music discs.4. High performance DSP simulates 7 sound fieldsPlayback is possible in 7 surround modes: 5-channel Stereo, Mono Movie, Rock Arena, JazzClub, Video Game, Matrix and Virtual. You canenjoy a variety of sound effects for different moviescenes and program sources even with stereosources not in Dolby Surround.5. Personal Memory Plus functionPersonal Memory Plus is an advanced version ofPersonal Memory. With Personal Memory Plus, theset automatically memorizes the surround mode,channel volume, surround parameters, etc., foreach of the separate input sources.6. Remote control unit with pre-memory functionThis unit comes with a remote control unitequipped with a pre-memory function. The remotecontrol command codes for DENON remotecontrollable AV components as well as for LDplayers, video decks, TVs, etc., of other majormanufacturers are prestored in the memory.7. EXT. IN jackThis unit is equipped with EXT. IN jacks for usewith audio formats of the future. |
