– 36 – ENTROUBLESHOOTING GUIDEIf the DVD player does not perform properly when operated as instructed in this Operating Instruction, check the player, con-sulting the following checklist.NOTES:• Some functions are not available in specific modes, but this is not a malfunction. Read the description in these OperatingInstructions for details on correct operations.• Playback from a desired track and random playback are not available during program playback.• Some functions are prohibited on some discs.Problem Solution Page– Check if the AC power cord is properly connected.– Unplug the AC power cord once, and wait for 5-10seconds and then plug it in again.– Check if the TV is turned on.– Check the video connection and HDMI connection.– Check the VIDEO/AUDIO cable connections to the TV.– Check if the PROGRESSIVE mode is set correctly.– Sometimes a small amount of picture distortion mayappear. This is not a malfunction.– Connect the player directly to the TV.– Connect the DVD player directly to the TV.– Make sure the disc is compatible with the DVD player.– Adjust the volume.– Check that the speakers are connected correctly.– Check the digital connections.– Check the audio settings.– Digital signals cannot be output with Super Audio CDs.Use analog connections.– Area of Super Audio CD being played (MULTI/STEREO/CD)does not match amplifier connections.– Check the HDMI connection. (Check the status of theHDMI related indications.)– Check whether the connected monitor equipment or otherequipment supports HDCP. (This player will not output avideo signal unless the other equipment supports HDCP.)– Connect the DVD player to the display device using theAudio/Video cables (supplied) and check the setting of HDMI.– Check whether the output format of this player (HDMIFORMAT) matches the supported input format of otherconnected equipment.– Check the disc for fingerprints/dust and clean with a softcloth wiping from center to edge.– Clean the disc.– Clean the disc.– Ensure the disc label is facing up.– Check if the disc is defective by trying another disc.– Cancel Ratings control or change the control level.– Insert a correct disc that plays on this player.– Reset the player by turning it off, then on again.– Aim the remote control directly at the sensor on the frontof the player.– Reduce the distance to the player.– Replace the batteries in the remote control.– Re-insert the batteries with their polarities (+/– signs) asindicated.– To completely reset the player, unplug the AC cord fromresponding the AC outlet for 5-10 seconds.– Operations may not be permitted by the disc.Refer to the instructions of the disc.– Use a commercially available CD/DVD cleaner to cleanthe lens before sending the DVD player for repair.–The angle cannot be switched for DVDs which do notcontain multiple angles.
