The keypad is locked in ei-ther on or off. The thermo-stat has been electronically calibrated at the fac-tory and requires no adjustment or leveling.Upon installation, the thermostat must be al-lowed to stabilize at room temperature for aminimum of 30 minutes for proper operation.See installation instructions on page 22 of thismanual.GWMS2 WALL MOUNTEDSWITCH (OPTIONAL)Make sure the heater switch is on REMOTE.This wall switch works just like the conven-tional light switch. Flip the switch up for on anddown for off.Note: Make sure that this switch is not in a po-sition to be mistaken for a light switch. Thismay result in the fireplace being inadvertentlyturned on without the proper precautions be-ing taken. See installation instructions on page23 of this manual.THERMOSTAT SERIES (MODELGHRCTB)The hand-held remote can be operated usingeither the manual mode (MANU) or thermo-static mode (AUTO) (see Figure 45). To selectFahrenheit/Centigrade mode display, carefullypress the ˚C/˚F mode button with the end of apaper clip or similar blunt object.Manual Mode1. Press the POWER and LOCK buttons to-gether to turn on the hand-held remotecontrol.2. Press the MANU button to turn on thefireplace.3. Press the POWER and LOCK buttons to-gether to turn off the fireplace.Auto (Thermostatic) Mode1. Press the POWER and LOCK buttons to-gether to turn on the hand-held remotecontrol.2. Press AUTO button to select this mode.3. Set the desired room temperature by press-ing the TEMP + or - buttons.4. Press the POWER and LOCK buttons to-gether to turn off the fireplaceNote: Do not leave the hand-held remote in theAUTO mode close to the fireplace. The radiantheat from the fireplace will turn off the fire-place. Ideally, place the hand-held remote in thecenter of the room facing towards the fireplace.Note: Do not hold the hand-held remote for along time. Body temperature will affect its op-eration in the AUTO mode.Safety FeaturesWhen away from home for an extended period oftime or as a child safety feature to prevent acci-dental ignition of the fireplace, receiver ON/OFF/REMOTE switch should be in the OFF position.Auto Shutoff Feature1. If the average room temperature exceeds 82degrees Fahrenheit (28 degrees Centigrade),the hand-held remote control will perform asafety override and shut the fireplace off. Thisfeature is not available in the MANU mode.2. The receiver continuously receives signalsfrom the hand-held remote to control theroom temperature. If the hand-held remoteis misplaced, obstructed, or for any reasoncannot transmit to the receiver, the receiverwill shut off the fireplace after 8 minutes.
