Fully open glass doors if installed.4. Remove front hearth brick and controlaccess panel.5. Turn gas control knob clockwiseto “OFF”. Do not force.6. Replace front refractory brick accesspanel.7. Fully close glass doors if installed.OPERATING FIREPLACEContinuedOPTIONAL HAND-HELDREMOTE OPERATIONNote: Receiver and hand-held remote con-trol kit must be purchased separately (seeAccessories, page 25). Follow installationinstructions on page 12 of this manual.1. After lighting, let pilot flame burn forabout one minute. Turn control knob toON position. Slide the selector switchto the REMOTE position. Note: Burnermay light if hand-held remote ONbutton was on when selector switchwas last turned off. You can now turnburner on and off with hand-held re-mote control unit.IMPORTANT: Do not leave selectorswitch in the REMOTE position whenpilot is not lit. This will drain battery.IMPORTANT: Be sure to press ON/OFFbuttons on hand-held remote controlunit for up to 3 seconds to assureproper operation.ThermopilePilot BurnerIgnitorFigure 38 - Correct Pilot Flame PatternFigure 37 - PilotThermopilePilotBurnerIgnitor. Press ON/OFF button to turn the burneron and off. When turning burner off,pilot will remain lit.IMPORTANT: To turn pilot off, manuallyturn control knob on heater to OFFposition.3. Close equipment shutoff valveINSPECTING BURNERSCheck pilot flame pattern and burner flamepatterns often.PILOT ASSEMBLYThe pilot assembly is factory preset for theproper flame height. Alterations may haveoccurred during shipping and handling. Thepilot is located on the back right hand sideof the burner.The height of thermopile must be 3/8" to 1/"above pilot flame. Flame from pilot burnermust extend beyond thermopile.If your pilot assembly does not meet theserequirements:• Turn adjustment screw marked pilot clock-wise to decrease or counterclockwise toincrease flame to proper size (see Figure36, page 19). Do not remove adjustmentscrew.• see Troubleshooting, page 22
