13Instruction Book IB182312EN June 2016 www.eaton.com50/75/150 VCP-WSelectable Ground and Test Device4.6 DEVICE AMPERAGE CONVERSION PROCEDUREThe VCP-W-SGT may be optionally provided with interchangeableprimary disconnects. When so equipped, the extra primarydisconnects and code plates are boxed separately. The primary circuit terminals of the selectable ground andtest device consists of silver plated copper conductors withinterchangeable primary disconnects. The same primarydisconnects are used for 1200 and 2000 ampere applications; theSG&T must be converted for 3000 ampere SG&T use. Primarydisconnecting contacts are bolted to the lead assemblies; theseprimary disconnects are configured to engage the circuit breakercompartment primary disconnects. It is critical to confirm that1200/2000 ampere primary disconnects are installed prior toinsertion in 1200/2000 ampere circuit breaker compartments;likewise for tests in 3000 ampere circuit breaker compartments.THIS CONVERSION ALSO REQUIRES A CODE PLATE CHANGEPRIOR TO RACKING THE SG&T INTO ITS CIRCUIT BREAKERCOMPARTMENT. Follow the procedure below to convert from oneprimary current design to the other.a. With the selectable ground and test device located in anappropriate work area, remove the existing primary disconnectsinstalled on the SG&T. Retain the hardware for re-use. Figure 4.3.b. After removing the primary disconnect assembly, locate theprimary disconnects to be installed and install them on thelead assemblies using the hardware just removed. The primarydisconnects just removed should be properly stored to avoidpotential damage. Figure 4.4.otee:N Ensure shims are installed as shown in Figure 4.5 for the 3000Aconfiguration.c. THE GROUND AND TEST CODE PLATE MUST BE CHANGED ATTHIS TIME. The SG&T device will be blocked from full insertion inthe circuit breaker compartment until the code plate is changed. The code plate is a mandatory safety feature that must not beremoved and/or discarded.d. Left hand and right hand code plates are installed on the lowerpart of the SG&T frame below ‘C’ phase. The right hand codeplate is mounted adjacent to rail to which the wheels areattached; the left hand code plate is mounted to the left of theright hand code plate. The left hand code plate is used for thecontinuous current rating, the right hand code plate correspondsto the short circuit capabilities of the device. Eaton offers manycode plate combinations for accepting or rejecting devicesbased on their continuous current rating, short circuit currentrating, speed of contact parting (3-cycle or 5-cycle) and otherclassifications; consult your Eaton representative for completecode plate availability. Table 4.1 provides the code plateinformation for 15 kV SG&T devices that have a short time ratingof 50 kA.Table 4.Nominal Voltage /Short Time RatingCubicle CurrentRatingCycle Class Device LH Code LH Style CodePlateDevice RH Code RH Style CodePlate15 / 50 1200 5 K = 1 12000 8061A47H06 10012 8061A42H0115 / 50 2000 5 K = 1 11000 8061A38H06 10012 8061A42H0115 / 50 3000 5 K = 1 20000 8061A40H06 10012 8061A42H01Examplee: If the SG&T is to be used only in switchgear rated for 48-49 kA, only the Left Hand code plate would be changed to allow insertion of the 1200A,2000A, or 3000A configured device.Figure 4.9. 50/75/150 VCP-W with optional LINE/LOAD andPHASE labels PreviousNext |
