This includes other keypads with proxreaders, external prox readers such as the KEY-EP,or prox readers used by other systems (for exampleaccess control systems). If you mount prox readerscloser together than one meter (including on theother side of walls) then the two prox readers willinterfere and may not work correctly.Fitting KeypadsSelect which cable entry you are going to use andbreak out the appropriate plastic sections.Use 4mm x 25mm countersunk screws with athread suitable for the wall material in at least threefixing holes when mounting the back of the keypadon the wall.i-KP01If required, drill out the hole for the back tamperusing a 7mm bit (see Figure 16).Figure 16. Screw i-KP01 Back Box to WallKEY-K01/KP01/KPZ01Make sure the backplate is level and mark, drill andplug at least three fixing holes. Screw the backplateto the wall through the fixing holes using the M4screws.Figure 17. Screw KEY-K01/KP01/KPZ01 Back Boxto WallConnecting Keypads to Control UnitCable TypeIn general, the control unit requires standard 7/0.2un-screened alarm cable for wiring to keypads.Screened cable may prove necessary if theinstallation site has equipment that produces highlevels of R.F. (Radio Frequencies), for examplewelding equipment. If screened cable is required, you should keep to the following guidelines:1. Avoid earth loops by connecting the screen onthe cable to mains earth at the end station butnot at the keypad.2. The continuity of the cable screen is mostimportant and screens MUST be continuousalong the full length of the cable.3. If the cable enters any metal enclosure, ensurethe screen is isolated from the case.Cable SegregationSegregate the keypad cabling from any otherwiring, such as mains supply cables, telephonecables, computer network cables and R.F. cables.Use cable ties to keep cables separated.Keep the keypad cable clear of cables supplyingsounders or extension loudspeakers.Cable Configuration and LengthYou can connect up to two keypads to the endstation. You may connect the keypads eitherserially, or in parallel at the end station connector. The cable length from control unit to the mostdistant keypad should not exceed 100m.Keypad ConnectionFigure 18 shows the wiring connections at thekeypad and control unit.
