IntroductionOverviewThe i-on16 is the control unit for a wirefree alarmsystem intended for domestic and light commercialuse.The control unit comprises an end station andseparate keypad.The end station has an ABS plastic case whichcontains the radio transceiver, power supply andbackup battery. Connected to the end station bystandard alarm cable is the keypad.The i-on16 at release 4 uses i-kp01 keypads withsoftware revision 2.0 onwards. The keypad allowsthe end user to set and unset the system, and theinstaller to configure the control unit. The keypadalso contains an integral proximity tag reader,allowing end users to control the system withouthaving to remember access codes.Note that to work correctly the i-on16 must be fittedwith at least one wired keypad.There are three other types of keypad available forconnection to the i-on16:KEY-K01 This keypad has no internal proxreader, and is supplied in a squareformat case.KEY-KP01 This product, supplied in the samecase as the KEY-K01, has aninternal prox reader and alsoprovides terminals for an externalprox reader KEY-EPKEY-KPZ01 This product, supplied in the samecase as the KEY-K01, has aninternal prox reader and alsoprovides terminals for up to twozones, a programmable output, andan external prox reader KEY-EPA range of wireless peripherals is available foroperation with the control unit. These include a doorcontact/universal transmitter, a passive infra reddetector, smoke detector, external siren, 4 buttonremote control, and remote radio keypad.The control unit supports 16 wirefree alarm zones, 4hardwired transistor outputs, 16 four button remotecontrols, 16 two button hold up alarm, and 16 users.When fitted with an optional plug on module thecontrol unit can send recorded speech messagesover the public switched telephone network (PSTN).The module can also report alarm information usingstandard protocols such as Fast Format, SIA andContact ID.This manual shows the simple procedure requiredto install the control unit and its keypad. When youhave completed the physical installation pleaseconsult the Programming section for details ofconfiguring the system to meet your exactrequirements.Installer Programming InterfaceOnce fitted and powered up, you can program thecontrol unit through any wired keypad connected tothe control unit. The Installer Menu allows you tospecify all the operating parameters for anindividual installation.In addition, it is possible to connect a PC or laptopto the mini USB port on the control unit PCB anduse Eaton’s Security Business’s Downloadersoftware to program the control unit.Note: Some programming options can make theinstallation non-compliant with EN50131.
