6AustraliaSimmering aids, such as asbestos or mesh mats, are NOTrecommended. They will reduce burner performanceand could damage the pan supports.Avoid using unstable and misshapen pans that maytilt easily, and pans with a very small base diameter,e.g. milk pans, single egg poachers. The minimum pandiameter recommended is 120mm (about 43/4").The Wok burners are designed to provide even heatover a large area. They are ideal for large pans and stirfrying. For heating smaller pans, the smaller burnersmay be more efficient. When the ignition button is pressed in, sparks willbe created at every burner (this is normal). If, after lighting, a hotplate burner’s flame goes out, turnit off and leave it for one minute before relighting it.You can remove the burner cap and trim rings forcleaning - see the 'Cleaning your Cooker' section ofthese instructions. You should wipe the enamel top surface of the cookeraround the hotplate burners as soon as possible afterspills occur. Try to wipe them off while the enamel is stillwarm.Note:Use of aluminium pans may cause metallic markingof the pan supports. This does not affect thedurability of the enamel and may be cleaned offwith an appropriate cleaner (refer to 'Cleaning yourCooker').The GriddleThe griddle fits the left hand pan support, front to back.It is designed for cooking food on directly. Don’t usepans of any kind on it. The griddle surface is non-stickand metal cooking utensils (e.g. spatulas) will damagethe surface. Use utensils made of either heat-resistantplastic or wood.Don’t put the griddle crossways - it will not fit properlyand will be unstable.Don’t put it on the Wok burners - it is not designed to fitthe Wok burner pan supports.Position the griddle over the hotplate burners restingon the pan support. Check that it is securely located. The griddle can be lightly brushed with cooking oilbefore use. Light the hotplate burners. Adjust the flameheights to suit.Preheat the griddle for a maximum of 5 minutes beforeadding food. Leaving it longer may cause damage. Thecontrols can be turned to a lower position simply byturning the control knobs towards the lower positionmarked with the small flame symbol.
