54 GE Information D.20 RIO - HARDWARE USER’S MANUALCONFIGURING SINGLE AND REDUNDANT D.20 RIOS CHAPTER 6: USING THE D.20 RIOConfiguring Single and Redundant D.20 RIOsA single D.20 RIO can be connected in a Terminated or Looped connection withperipherals, while two D.20 RIOs can be connected in Redundant Links or Redundant Loopconnection with peripherals.Single D.20 RIOTo connect to a single D.20 RIO:1. Complete the D.20 RIO initialization procedure: See “Initialization procedure” onpage 37.2. Configure the D.20 Peripheral Client from the D.20 RIO HMI by selecting redundancymode Single Device and committing the changes. Refer to the online help for furtherdetails.3. Connect to the D400 HMI and execute the following steps.3.1. Go to the Connection Configuration screen, add Network connections andselect D.20 Network Clients from the drop down menu.3.2. Add the D.20 RIO device and click the Retrieve D.20 RIO Configuration tab.To ensure that the service starts automatically, select the Block Settings >Auto-start option, and select Enable on Startup in the D.20 RIO device list tablefor each device you add to the D4003.3. Enter the IP address, User Name and Password of the D.20 RIO and clickDownload. The default protocol is HTTP for retrieving the D.20 RIOconfiguration; however if the user configures HTTPS in the D.20 RIO then theprotocol for retrieving the D.20 RIO configuration should be HTTPS.3.4. If the error message: Max users logged in for user appears in the D400 HMI,close all open D.20 RIO HMI sessions and try to download the D.20 RIOconfiguration again using Retrieve D.20 RIO Configuration tab of D400.3.5. Save and commit the configuration in the D400 HMI.Redundant D.20 RIOsTo connect to a redundant D.20 RIOs:1. Complete the D.20 RIO initialization procedure in both D.20 RIOs: See “Initializationprocedure” on page 37.2. Designate one of the D.20 RIOs as the primary D.20 RIO and designate the other D.20RIO as the secondary D.20 RIO. Further configuration is now done in the primary D.20RIO3. In the primary D.20 RIO, configure the D.20 peripheral client from the D.20 RIO HMI byselecting the redundancy mode as either Redundant Loop or Redundant Links andcommit the changes. Refer to the online help for further details.3.1. Provide the primary D.20 RIO IP address for IP Address3.2. Provide the secondary D.20 RIO IP address for Redundant RIO IP AddressNOTEThe applications on the secondary D.20 RIO would be stopped automatically whileperforming the commit operation on the primary D.20 RIO. It may take up to 3 minutesfor the D.20 RIO to complete its commit operation. Wait this 3 minute period beforeattempting the next step of the D400 configuration. If the error message “The D.20 RIOserver is not ready” appears, reboot the Primary D.20 RIO and then continue withstep 4.
