– 32 –Inlet Control ThermistorThe inlet control thermistor is located on thetop right side of the inlet duct. The thermistormonitors incoming air temperature and relays theinformation to the control board. The thermistor has a negative coefficient. As thetemperature increases, the thermistor's resistancedecreases.Inlet control thermistor approximate resistancevalues:• 59.4 - 65.7K at 69°F (20°C)• 47.6 - 52.4K at 77°F (25°C)• 38.4 - 42K at 86°F (30°C)Operation of the inlet control thermistor can bechecked by using the inlet thermistor test in servicetest mode. (See Service Test Mode.)Specific failures associated with the inlet controlthermistor can initiate error codes F01 and F03. (SeeService Test Mode.)To access the inlet control thermistor, it is necessaryto remove the rear bulkhead for front service orback panel for rear service. The thermostat is attached to the inlet duct with aPhillips-head screw. A wire harness is connected tothe thermistor.Note: Electric model safety and high limitthermostats not located on the air duct.Gas ModelInlet Control ThermistorElectric ModelHigh Limit ThermostatOn electric models, the high limit thermostat islocated near the back of the heater housing, on theright side. On gas models, the high limit thermostatis located on the top right side of the inlet duct, between the inlet thermistor and the inlet safetythermostat. The thermostat monitors incoming airtemperature. If the thermostat reaches a temperature beyond itsmaximum temperature rating, it will trip and disablepower to the heating elements (electric model) orburner assembly (gas model). The high limit thermostat opens at 300°F (149°C)and will automatically reset at 270°F (132°C).To access the high limit thermostat, it is necessaryto remove the drum (electric model). On gas models, remove the rear bulkhead for front service or backpanel for rear service. The thermostat is attached to the heater housing orinlet duct with a Phillips-head screw and a tab. Twowires are connected to the thermostat.High LimitThermostatGas ModelHigh Limit Thermostat
