CARE AND CLEANING(continued)Control Panel and KnobsIt’s a good idea to wipe the controlpanel after each use of the oven.Clean with mild soap and water orvinegar and water, rinse with cleanwater and polish dry with a softcloth.Do not use abrasive cleansers,strong liquid cleaners, plasticscouring pads or oven cleaners onthe control panel—they will damagethe finish. A 50/50 solution ofvinegar and hot water works well.The control knobs may be removedfor easier cleaning. To removeknob, pull it straight off the stem. Ifknob is difficult to remove, place atowel or dishcloth between the knoband control panel and pull gently.Wash the knobs in soap and wateror a vinegar and hot water solutionbut do not soak.To clean outside glass finish, use aglass cleaner. Do not allow thewater or cleaner to run down insideopenings in the glass whilecleaning.Metal parts can be cleaned withsoap and water. Do not use steelwool, abrasives, ammonia, acidsor commercial oven cleaners. Drywith a soft cloth.Oven ShelvesShelves can be cleaned by hand using soap and water orwith an abrasive cleanser. After cleaning, rinse theshelves with clean water and dry. To remove heavy,burned-on soil, you may use scouring pads. Afterscrubbing, wash with soapy water, rinse and dry.Shelves may also be cleaned in self-cleaning oven, butwill discolor and lose some luster. See the Self-Cleaning section.Broiler Pan and RackAfter broiling, remove the broiler pan and rack fromthe oven. Remove the rack from the pan. Carefullypour out the grease in the pan into a proper container.If food has burned on, sprinkle the rack with detergentwhile hot and cover with wet paper towels or adishcloth. That way, burned-on foods will soak loosewhile the meal is being served.Wash; scour if necessary. Rinse and dry. The broilerpan and rack may also be cleaned in a dishwasher. Donot store a soiled broiler pan and rack anywhere in therange. Do not clean in self-cleaning oven.How to Remove the Storage Drawer or Kick Panel to Clean Under the RangeThe area under the range can be reached easily for cleaning by removing thebottom drawer (on some models). To remove, pull the drawer out all the way,tilt up the front and remove it. To replace, insert glides at the back of thedrawer beyond the stop on range glides. Lift the drawer if necessary to inserteasily. Let the front of the drawer down, then push in to close.To clean under models with a front kick panel, remove the panel by pulling itstraight out at the bottom. To replace the panel, first hook the top tabs on andthen the bottom tabs.24
