Important Safety InstructionsSelf-Cleaning Oven• Do not clean the oven door gasket. The doorgasket is essential for a good seal. Care should betaken not to rub, damage or move the gasket.• Do not use oven cleaners. No commercial ovencleaner or oven liner protective coating of anykind should be used in or around any part of theoven. Residue from oven cleaners will damagethe inside of the oven when the self-clean cycle isused.• Be sure to wipe up excess spillage beforestarting the self-cleaning operation.• Before self-cleaning the oven, remove thebroiler pan, grid and other cookware.• If the self-cleaning mode malfunctions, turnthe oven off and disconnect the power supply.Have it serviced by a qualified technician.Surface Cooking Units• Use proper pan size—Select cookware havingflat bottoms large enough to cover the surface unitheating element. The use of undersized cookwarewill expose a portion of the surface unit to directcontact and may result in ignition of clothing.Proper relationship of the cookware to the surfaceunit will also improve efficiency.• Never leave the surface units unattended athigh heat settings. Boilovers cause smoking andgreasy spillovers that may catch on fire.• Be sure the drip pans and vent ducts are notcovered and are in place. Their absence duringcooking could damage range parts and wiring.• Do not use aluminum foil to line the drip pansor anywhere in the oven except as described inthis guide. Misuse could result in a shock, firehazard or damage to the range.• Never clean the cooktop surface when itis hot. Some cleaners produce noxious fumesand wet cloths could cause steam burns if usedon a hot surface.• Never leave jars or cans of fat drippingson or near your range.• Only certain types of glass, glass/ceramic,earthenware or other glazed containers aresuitable for cooktop cooking; others may breakbecause of the sudden change in temperature.• To minimize the possibility of burns, ignitionof flammable materials and spillage, the handleof a container should be turned toward the centerof the range without extending over nearbysurface units.• Always turn the surface unit controls off beforeremoving cookware.• Carefully watch for spillovers or overheatingof foods when frying at high or medium hightemperatures.• To avoid the possibility of a burn or electricshock, always be certain that the controls for allsurface units are at the off position andall coils are cool before attempting to lift orremove a unit.• Do not immerse or soak the removable surfaceunits. Do not put them in a dishwasher. Do notclean the surface units in the oven.• Never try to move a pan of hot fat, especiallya deep fat fryer. Wait until the fat is cool.• When flaming foods are under the hood, turnthe fan off. The fan, if operating, may spreadthe flame.• Foods for frying should be as dry as possible.Frost on frozen foods or moisture on freshfoods can cause hot fat to bubble up and over thesides of the pan.• Use little fat for effective shallow or deep-fatfrying.
