12Water filtercartridgeThe water filter cartridge is locatedin the back upper right corner ofthe fresh food compartment.When to Replace the FilterThere is a replacement indicatorlight for the water filter cartridge on thedispenser. This light will turn orange to tellyou that you need to replace the filter soon.The filter cartridge should be replaced whenthe replacement indicator light turns red orif the flow of water to the dispenser or icemakerdecreases.Installing the Filter CartridgePlace the top ofthe cartridge upinside the cartridgeholder and slowlyturn it to the right.1 If you are replacing the cartridge,first remove the old one by slowly turning itto the left. Do not pull down on the cartridge.A small amount of water may drip down.2 Fill the replacement cartridge with waterfrom the tap to allow for better flow fromthe dispenser immediately after installation.3 Lining up the arrow on the cartridge andthe cartridge holder, place the top ofthe new cartridge up inside the holder.Do not push it up into the holder.4 Slowly turn it to the right until the filtercartridge stops. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.As you turn the cartridge, it will automaticallyraise itself into position. Cartridge will rotateabout 1/4 turn.5 Run water from the dispenser for 3 minutes(about one and a half gallons) to clear thesystem and prevent sputtering.6 Press and hold the RESETWATER FILTER pad on thedispenser for 3 seconds.NOTE: A newly-installed water filtercartridge may cause water to spurtfrom the dispenser.Filter Bypass PlugYou must use the filter bypass plug whena replacement filter cartridge is not available.The dispenser and the icemaker will notoperate without the filter or filter bypass plug.Replacement Filters:To order additional filter cartridges inthe United States, call GE Parts andAccessories, 800.626.2002.GWFSuggested Retail $34.95 USDCustomers in Canada should consult the yellowpages for the nearest Camco Service Center.CartridgeHolderFilter Bypass PlugWater FilterStainless Steel Refrigerator
