The machine will switch back intothe normal operating mode; the display willshow:SELECT PRODUCTREADY FOR USE10 CLEANING AND MAINTENANCEGeneral Cleaning• Maintenance and cleaning should only becarried out when the appliance is cold anddisconnected from the power supply.• Do not immerse the appliance in water anddo not wash the parts in the dishwasher.• Do not use abrasives or aggressive chemicals(solvents) for cleaning.• Do not dry the machine and/or any of its partsusing a microwave and/or conventional oven.• We recommend that you clean the water tankand change the water daily.• Clean the ground coffee dispenser daily; usethe brush provided.• To clean the appliance, use a soft clothdampened with water.• Clean the service area and brew unit.• We recommend that you empty and clean thedrip tray (12), dregs drawer (10) and the smalldrawer below the brew unit (Fig.18) every day.For this purpose it will be necessary to openthe side door; then you may proceed to emptyand clean all the components.10.1 The brew unitThe brew unit (17) must be cleanedeach time you fill the coffee beancontainer or at least once a week.• Switch off the appliance by moving the ON/OFF switch (7) to the “O” position and removethe plug from the wall outlet.• Open the service door (15) and then removethe dregs drawer.• Remove the brew unit, holding it by its handleand pressing the “PRESS” button (Fig.15)• Make sure that the two steel filters are freefrom any coffee residues. The top filter canbe removed by unscrewing the plastic pinanticlockwise using the key provided(Fig.17).• Wash the brew unit with hot water only: donot use detergents. Then thoroughly wash anddry all its components.• Refit the filter and carefully screw the plasticpin back on using the key provided.• Clean the compartment inside the appliance.• Holding it by its handle, insert the brew unitinto its housing until it snaps into place(Fig.19).• Fit the dregs drawer back in place.• Close the door (15).11 DESCALINGScale forms during normal use of the appliance;a descaling treatment should be carried out every3-4 months, either when you notice a reducedwater flow or the following message is displayed:DESCALINGREADY FOR USEIf you wish to carry this out at home,you can use a commercially availablenon-toxic, non-harmful descaling productfor coffee machines.Caution! Never use vinegar.Caution! The solution dispensed fromthe machine must be properlydisposed of; do not use it for foodpreparation.Descaling can be carried out manually orautomatically.
