14INSTALLATIONIMPORTANT: RATING PLATE FOR THISEQUIPMENT IS LOCATED IN TWOPLACES. ONE IS LOCATED INSIDEBACK PANEL ON LEFT SIDE,SECOND RATING PLATE LOCATEDUNDER FRONT CONTROL PANEL ONCENTER.This equipment must be installed by a competentfactory trained, certified, licensed and / or authorizedservice or installation person.WARNING. This appliance must be earthed.Prior to installation, the four castors and two lockingchannels, supplied loose with the grill, must besecurely located on the underside of the base. Thecastors fitted with a brake must be located at the frontof the grill. The castors are located through the lockingchannel with the folded edges facing down, such thatwhen all castors are located, they cannot rotate. This appliance should be connected to a potentialequalization system. To facilitate this a labeledequipotential bonding point is fitted to the rear of thegrill. It is recommended that this grill is connected to aresidual current (earth leakage) device with a trippingcurrent not exceeding 30mA. The leakage current ofthis grill will not exceed 5mA.This grill is supplied with a seven pin socket, asspecified by the McDonald’s Corporation, forinstallation in new grill stations. This socket is suppliedfitted to the grill at the factory. This socket allows fordisconnection from the supply with all pole separationof at least 3mm.For connection to existing older grill stations, pleaserefer to your Kitchen Equipment Supplier for aconversion kit that allows connection to two powersupply cords and one interlock cord. This kit must beconnected according to the instructions and wiringdiagram supplied with it and the warning labelssupplied with the kit must be applied to the grill.CAUTION: Prior to installation, check the electricalsupply to ensure input voltage and phasematch the equipment voltage rating andphase. See data plate located rear leftside of grill and lower front panel.Grill is to be located directly under ventilation systemand fit securely with grill locks attached.Once installed in the grill station underneath theventilation system, the raised position of the upperplatens must be adjusted to allow at least 40mm (1.6”)of clearance between the handle on the front of theupper platen and the lower lip of the ventilation systemhood. The raised position of each platen is adjusted byraising or lowering the upper of the two microswitches(limit switches) in the rear of the grill. The lowermicroswitch position must not be adjusted.Grill plate must be level front to back, side to side anddiagonally. This leveling must be done with the unitunder the hood and in it’s normal operational positionto prevent warping of the grill plate.NOTE: Once the platen elevation is adjusted, set themechanical over-run bolts in the rear of theunit to prevent accidental over-run in the eventof failure of the upper microswitch.Installation shall be made with the gas connector thathas been specified by The McDonald’s Corporationand is supplied loose with the grill. The quickdisconnect fitting and gas shut off valve must beinstalled in the direction indicated on their outer body.National Codes Requirements:The type of gas for which the grill is equipped isstamped on the data plate on the inside rear of the unitand on the lower front panel. Connect a grill stampedfor Natural Gas (High (H) or Low (L) Calorific Value)only to Natural Gas; connect those stamped forPropane Gas only to Propane Gas. When installinggas grills, the installation must comply with the latestedition of the National Gas Installation Requirements. When installing any type of gas-fired commercialkitchen equipment, the requirements of the NationalFire Protection Association must be followed implicitly.Gas Connections, and Pipe Sizing:The size of the gas line is very important. If the line istoo small, the gas pressure at the burner manifold willbe low. This will cause slow recovery and delayedignition. The incoming gas pressure line should be aminimum of 1-1/2”. All grills require a 1” connection. Before connecting new pipe the pipe must be blownout to dispose of any foreign particles. These particleswill cause improper operation. When using thread compound, use small amounts onmale threads only. Use a compound that is noteffected by the chemical action of LP gases. Avoidapplying compound to the first two threads to preventclogging of the burner orifices and control valve.Have the installer check all gas plumbing with a soapsolution for leaks. DO NOT USE matches, candles orother ignition sources in checking for leaks.
