Turn the GMX 200 on and remove power from all other avionics systems.NOTERemoving power from systems interfaced to the GMX 200 will cause theassociated system flags on the GMX 200 to be displayed. This is normalbehavior and does not constitute a test failure.4. Apply power to the other avionics systems one at a time and verify that the system is functioningproperly without any unacceptable interference caused by the GMX 200. Ensure that there is nounacceptable interference in the GMX 200 when the avionic system is powered up. Wait for thesystem to begin functioning normally before applying power to the next system.5.5.12 8 6 B WSI AV-300/350 Checkout ProcedureThe checkout procedure to verify proper FIS datalink sensor operation with the GMX 200 is the same forthe WSI AV-300 or AV-350 sensor. The GMX 200 supports the weather datalink portion and not theaudio portion of the AV-350. This procedure may be conducted in a hangar as it verifies proper serialcommunication between the FIS sensor and the GMX 200. The WSI antenna requires a clear view of thesky towards the south to verify satellite signal reception.NOTEThis procedure verifies correct installation and operation of the GMX200 FIS function and wiring between the GMX 200 and WSI AV-300 orAV-350 FIS sensor. It does not activate WSI weather products or theSirius Satellite Radio audio function. Instructions for activating the WSIor Sirius Satellite Radio provided features can be found in the WSI AV-300/350 Installation Manual.1. Apply power to the AV-300/350 and wait a minimum of 3 minutes, 15 seconds.2. Turn on the GMX 200 and wait for the startup screen to appear. The GMX 200 must be started afterthe AV-300/350 has finished its startup sequence to ensure proper operation.3. After the GMX 200 has been running for two minutes, verify that the LINK flag is not displayed.Refer to Section 6, Troubleshooting if the flag appears. The flag is an indication that the GMX 200 isnot receiving data from the AV-300/350.4. Select the Flight Information Service (FIS) function on the GMX 200.5. Press the MENU/ENT key.6. Press the Status Menu Option Key.7. Press the Stats Smart key.8. Verify that the Receiver ID matches the ID on the AV-300/350 label. The ID number appears as twoalternating portions of the whole ID number.9. This concludes the checkout procedure.The Stats and Prod pages can be used to observe AV-300/350 operation of the FIS function. Verificationof the audio function cannot be performed with the GMX 200.
