23Navigation PageMain PageThe Navigation Page provides active guidance with a rotating compass ring thatshows your course over ground (track) while you’re moving and a bearing pointer toindicate the current direction to your destination (bearing) relative to the course overground. The Compass Ring does not function as a magnetic compass when you are station-ary. Although the bearing to a point will be correct, you must be moving in order for thecompass functions to work properly. When you are moving, the heading is controlled bythe GPS receiver. The Data Field the top of the page, by default shows you the name of your destina-tion. All five Data Fields can be programmed to display a variety of navigation data. The list of data field choices may be found on page 20 and definitions may be found inAppendix F.While you are navigating a route, the pointer indicates the direction (a bent arrow)of the turn to the next point in the route as well as the direction to the current pointwhen you get within 15 seconds ETA of the current point. When you are not on an active Goto, Track or Route (in other words: not travelingto a recorded destination), the window at the top of the page will be blank when ‘‘Desti-nation’ is selected. The Compass Ring displays your heading while you are moving, butthe data fields to the right of the page will not display any destination related data, suchas Estimated Time of Arrival.Times to DestinationStraight Line Distanceto the DestinationSelectable Data FieldsBearing PointerCompass RingDestination(Waypoint) Name
