Main Menu PageSatellite PageSatellite Page using WAAS.Satellite PageThe Satellite Page provides a picture of satellite signaltracking, tells you when the unit is ready for navigation, and shows your location coordinates. The Skyview graphic represents a view looking upat the sky from your current location showing satellitesand their assigned numbers. The outer ring representsthe horizon around you, the inner ring represents a viewabove you at a 45° angle from vertical, and the centerrepresents directly overhead. Signal Strength Bars for eachsatellite are shown to the left of the Skyview. Satellitesand their signals appear as hollow shapes until a signal isreceived and then they appear darkened in. The strongerthe signal, the taller the signal bar.The Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS)capability produces a more accurate position fix. Whenenabled (the GPS mode set to ‘Normal’ and the interfaceset to other than RTCM mode), this feature searches fora WAAS satellite near your location and then receivesdata for correcting differentials in the GPS satellite signalsand the WAAS satellite numbers (beginning at No. 33 orabove) display on the Satellite Page. When differentialcorrection data has been received for GPS satellites (num-bers 32 or below), a ‘D’ displays in the signal bar to theleft of the skyview. It is helpful to orient the unit antennatoward the WAAS satellite shown in the skyview. To learnmore about the WAAS System, access the Federal AviationAdministration web site (http://gps.faa.gov/). Because theRino relies on satellite signals to provide you with naviga-tional guidance, the unit’s view of the sky determines howfast you achieve navigational status.
