32Connecting the power cordConnecting an AC power cordCAUTION:Make sure that the grounding cable has been properly connected before powering on the switch.The S5120-SI Switch Series uses an external AC power system for its power supply. Follow these steps toconnect an AC power cord:Step1 Connect one end of the supplied grounding cable to the grounding screw on the rear panel of thechassis and the other end to the ground as near as possible.Step2 Insert one end of the AC power cord to the AC power receptacle on the rear panel of the chassis, asshown in Figure 39.Step3 Connect the other end of the power cord to a power source.Figure 39 Connect the AC power cord (A)The S5120-9P-SI and S5120-9P-HPWR-SI provide a bail latch to fix the AC power cord. Follow these stepsto connect an AC power cord for these switches:Step4 Insert the two ends of the bail latch to the slots at the two sides of the AC power receptacle. Then pushthe bail latch upwards, as shown in Figure 40.Step5 Insert one end of the AC power cord to the AC power receptacle, as shown in callout 1 in Figure 41.
