7Safety Information1.2 General information• The Hakomatic B 1050 W fulfills allthe applicable safety and health re-quirements stipulated in the EU di-rectives with regard to its planning,constructional design and final con-struction as introduced by us ontothe market. In the case of modificati-ons to the vehicle not approved byus, the EC Declaration of Conformityenclosed in this operating manual lo-ses its validity.• In addition to the information provi-ded in this operating manual, all le-gally applicable health and safetyprovisions must be observed.• Before starting up the vehicle for thefirst time, read the operating manualsupplied with it thoroughly as well asany separate manuals provided withadditional or attachment devices andobserve all the information duringwork.• The vehicle may only be operated,maintained and repaired by personstrained by Hako or authorized to doso by Hako.• Particular attention should be paid tothe information regarding safety.Technical expertise is the key to pre-venting errors when operating theequipment and ensuring trouble-freeoperation.• The operating manual must alwaysbe kept at the operating location ofthe vehicle and, as a result, shouldkept in a safe place on the vehicle.• If the equipment is sold or rented out,these documents should be transfer-red to the new owner/operator. Thetransfer should be confirmed!• The warning labels attached to theequipment provide important infor-mation concerning safe operation.Labels which are illegible or missingmust be replaced.• Original spare parts must be used toensure safety.• If you want to shut the vehicle down,render it inoperable. It must not re-present a source of danger for child-ren.1.3 Operating information• Before starting the vehicle up for thefirst time, the battery to be used mustbe fully charged, properly, by imple-menting the initial battery chargeroutine. Please pay attention to theoperating manual provided with thecharging unit as well as the manualfrom the battery manufacturer. Hakoassumes no liability for damage tothe battery caused by a fault whenthe battery is charged for the first ti-me.• Before starting the vehicle up, al-ways check it is in a proper conditionand that it is safe to drive and opera-te. Clear up any faults and defectsimmediately! Never operate the ve-hicle without functional safety equip-ment.• Warning: Do not use the vehicle wit-hout a protective roof structure (referto "Accessories", "Cab safety roof")in areas where the driver is at risk ofbeing hit by falling objects (e.g.warehouses). Contact the trade as-sociation responsible for you as towhether obligations exist in this re-spect.
