Although specific maintenance is not required, the following periodicchecks ensure dependable operation:Cleaning the Image Scanner’s WindowReading performance may degrade if the image scanner’s window is not clean.If the window is visibly dirty, or if the image scanner isn’t operating well, clean thewindow with a soft cloth or lens tissue dampened with water (or a mild detergent-water solution). If a detergent solution is used, rinse with a clean lens tissuedampened with water only.The image scanner and base’s housing may also be cleaned the same way.Inspecting Cords and ConnectorsInspect the base’s interface cable and connector for wear or other signs ofdamage. A badly worn cable or damaged connector may interfere with imagescanner operation. Contact your Hand Held Products distributor for informationabout cable replacement. Cable replacement instructions are on page 14-2.Do not submerge the image scanner in water. The imagescanner’s housing is not watertight.Do not use abrasive wipes or tissues on the imagescanner’s window – abrasive wipes may scratch thewindow.
