Removing the riser-card assemblyThe server comes with one riser-card assembly that contains two PCI Express x8connectors. You can replace the PCI Express riser-card assembly with a PCI-Xriser-card assembly, which contains two PCI-X 64-bit 133 MHz connectors. ThePCI-X connectors support single-width IXA adapters. Read the safety information that begins on page vii and “Installation guidelines”on page 28.2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cord andall external cables.Attention: In a dc power environment, only trained service personnel otherthan IBM service technicians are authorized to connect or disconnect power tothe dc power supply. See the documentation that comes with each dc powersupply.3. Remove the cover (see “Removing the cover” on page 31).4. Push the two riser-card-assembly release tabs toward the low-profile PCI slots;then, grasp the assembly at the rear and side edges and lift it to remove it fromthe server.
