Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords andall external cables, if necessary.Note: When you disconnect the power source from the server, you lose theability to view the LEDs because the LEDs are not lit when the powersource is removed. Before you disconnect the power source, make anote of which LEDs are lit, including the LEDs that are lit on the frontpanel, on the rear panel, and LEDs inside the server on the systemboard; then, see the Problem Determination and Service Guide forinformation about how to solve the problem.3. If the server has been installed in a rack, loosen the two thumbscrews on thefront of the server and remove the server out of the rack enclosure; then, placeit on a flat, static-protective surface.4. Press down firmly on the blue tab on the top of the cover (on the right side nearthe front of the server) and slide the cover toward the rear of the server until thecover has disengaged from the chassis.Cover-releasebutton5. Lift the cover off the server and set it aside.Attention: For proper cooling and airflow, replace the server top cover before youturn on the server.Removing the air baffleTo remove the air baffle, complete the following steps:1. Read the safety information that begins on page “Safety” on page vii and“Installation guidelines” on page 25.2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords andall external cables, if necessary.3. Remove the server top cover (see “Removing the server top cover” on page27).4. Grasp the air baffle; then, lift it up out of the server and set it aside.Attention: For proper cooling and airflow, replace the air baffle before youturn on the server.
