Chipkill memory protection is a technology that protects thesystem from a single chip failure on a DIMM.Note: Chipkill memory protection is not supported on 512 MB DIMMs.v The server supports online-spare memory. For additional information, see theUser’s Guide on the IBM System x Documentation CD.v The server does not support memory mirroring.v When you restart the server after you add or remove DIMMs, the server displaysa message indicating that the memory configuration has changed.v The amount of usable memory will be reduced, depending on the systemconfiguration. A certain amount of memory must be reserved for systemresources. To view the total amount of installed memory and the amount ofconfigured memory, run the Configuration/Setup Utility program and selectSystem Summary from the menu.
