4. Touch the static-protective package that contains the DIMM to any unpaintedmetal surface on the outside of the server. Then, remove the DIMM from thepackage.5. Turn the DIMM so that the DIMM keys align correctly with the connector.6. Insert the DIMM into the connector by aligning the edges of the DIMM with theslots at the ends of the DIMM connector.7. Firmly press the DIMM straight down into the connector by applying pressure onboth ends of the DIMM simultaneously. The retaining clips snap into the lockedposition when the DIMM is firmly seated in the connector.Note: If there is a gap between the DIMM and the retaining clips, the DIMMhas not been correctly inserted; open the retaining clips, remove theDIMM, and then reinsert it.If you have other devices to install, do so now. Otherwise, go to “Completing theinstallation”Completing the installationTo complete the installation, complete the following steps:1. If you removed the server cover, replace it and close the fan doors. For moreinformation, see “Replacing the server cover.”2. Slide the server back into the rack. If you removed the server from the rack, seethe Rack Installation Instructions that come with the server for complete rackinstallation instructions.3. Connect the cables and power cords. For more information, see “Connectingthe cables” on page 18.4. Update the server configuration. See “Updating the server configuration” onpage 19 for more information.Replacing the server coverTo replace the server cover, complete the following steps:1. Slide the cover forward, making sure that all the tabs on the front, rear, and sideof the cover engage the chassis correctly.2.
