Diagnostic error codesThe following table describes the error codes that the diagnostic programs mightgenerate and suggested actions to correct the detected problems.If the diagnostic programs generate error codes that are not listed in the table,make sure that the latest levels of BIOS, Remote Supervisor Adapter II SlimLine,and ServeRAID code are installed.In the error codes, x can be any numeral or letter. However, if the three-digitnumber in the central position of the code is 000, 195, or 197, do not replace aCRU or FRU. These numbers appearing in the central position of the code have thefollowing meanings:000 The server passed the test. Do not replace a CRU or FRU.195 The Esc key was pressed to end the test. Do not replace a CRU or FRU.197 This is a warning error, but it does not indicate a hardware failure; do notreplace a CRU or FRU. Take the action that is indicated in the Actioncolumn but do not replace a CRU or a FRU. See the description ofWarning in “Diagnostic text messages” on page 59 for more information.v Follow the suggested actions in the order in which they are listed in the Action column until the problemis solved.v See Chapter 3, “Parts listing, System x3400 Types 7973, 7974, 7975 and 7976,” on page 87 to determinewhich components are customer replaceable units (CRU) and which components are field replaceableunits (FRU).v If an action step is preceded by “(Trained service technician only),” that step must be performed only by atrained service technician.Error code Description Action001-198-000 Test aborted. 1. Check the diagnostic logs for messages thatindicate the cause of the error, and take theindicated action.2. From the diagnostic programs, run Quick MemoryTest All Banks; then, if an error is detected, takethe indicated action.3. Reinstall and, if necessary, update the BIOS codeon the server; then, run the test again (see“Updating the firmware” on page 165).001-250-00x Test failed, wherev x of 0 = ECC logic on system boardv x of 1 = ECC logic on DIMM1.
