In somecases, these functions andoperations may differ from thedescriptions given in this manual. Inthis event, follow the instructionsgiven on the screen. This manualonly covers basic disc operations.• For some operations, the iconmay appear on the screen. The actual displaysmay differ slightly from theseillustrations.Notes on DiscsDisc formats supported by this playerThe unit can play discs bearing any ofthe following logos:DVD’s Video CD’s Audio CD’s8-12cm disc 8-12cm disc 8-12cm discSupports Supports MP3,VCD 1.1 CDR, CDR-W,VCD2.0 and CD-DAJPEGNote: Audio encoded in MPEG 2.0may not play properly on some discs,although the picture will be shown.Discs that Cannot be Played• You cannot play CD-G, CD-EXTRA,PHOTO CD, CD-ROM and DVD-ROMdiscs.• You may not play scratched discs.• You may not play discs that aredusty, soiled or marked withfingerprints.Disc handling precautions• To keep the disc clean, handle thedisc by its edge. Do not touch thesurface.• Do not stick paper or tape on thedisc.If there is glue (or a similarsubstance) on the disc, remove theglue completely before using thedisc.• Do not expose the disc to directsunlight or sources such as hot airducts, or leave it in a car parked indirect sunlight as there can be aconsiderable rise in temperature in-side the car.• After playing, store the disc in itscase.• Do not write on the label side with aball-point pen or other writingutensils.• Be careful not to drop or bend thedisc.Disc cleaning precautions• Before playing, clean the disc with acleaning cloth. Wipe the disc fromthe center out.• Do not use solvents such asbenzine, thinner, commerciallyavailable cleaners or anti-staticspray intended for vinyl LPs.Disc installing precautions• Do not install more than 1 disc ondisc tray.• Do not place the disc on the tray up-side down.• Do not try to close the disc traywhen the disc is not installed andcentered properly.Regional CodingDVD players and discs are designedwith regional restrictions whichdictate the regions in which a disccan be played. If the region numberon the disc you want to play does notmatch the region number of your DVDplayer, you will not be able to play thedisc. The message “WRONGREGION” will appear in the on-screendisplay.The region code of this player isindicated on the rear and on theexternal packaging.Remote Control• Be sure to follow correct polaritywhen installing the batteries asindicated in the battery compart-ment. Reversed batteries may causedamage to the device.• Use only the size and type ofbatteries specified.• Do not mix different types ofbatteries (e.g. Alkaline and Carbon-zinc) or old batteries with new ones.• If you will not use the remote for anextended period of time, remove thebatteries to avoid possible damagefrom battery leakage and corrosion.+---+
