CHAPTER 7 – CARE AND MAINTENANCEThe S4800 loudspeaker system issprayed in a polyurethane finishand requires no maintenanceother than an occasional dustingwith a soft, dry, lint-free cottoncloth.The horns may also be wiped witha soft cloth. Treat the surface verycarefully to avoid scratching thefinish. To remove fingerprints andsmudges, apply a small amount ofammonia-free window cleaner tothe cloth and gently clean thesurface.Never use any abrasive cleanersor chemicals to clean the enclo-sure. If the enclosure becomesperceptibly scratched or other-wise damaged, consult a qualifiedfurniture repair shop.The grilles should never bewashed in water, which mightcause discoloration or sagging.The grilles may be cleaned usinga vacuum cleaner with the suc-tion set extremely low.To clean the woofer surfaces, usea soft, dry paintbrush to carefullysweep the dust away. Never usea damp cloth.All wiring connections should beinspected and cleaned, or remadeperiodically. The frequency ofthe maintenance depends on themetals involved in the connec-tions, atmospheric conditionsand other factors. Consult a JBLspecialist dealer for specificrecommendations.15
