045TI PURE-TITANIUMDIAPHRAGM/NEODYMIUM MAGNETULTRAHIGH-FREQUENCYCOMPRESSION DRIVERSee Figure 5.The 045Ti utilizes the same princi-ples as the 435AL, in a smaller foot-print so that a frequency responseup to 40kHz can be achieved.INTERNAL CROSSOVERNETWORKEach loudspeaker unit has twointernal dividing networks, one forthe LF transducers and one for thecombined HF and UHF transducers.The low-frequency section inter-faces with the external main con-trol panel for input connections andswitch functions. They also employmassive air core inductors for thebest possible sonic characteristicsand lowest possible coloration.All internal connections use propri-etary Monster Cable,® and all criti-cal connections are gold-plated forlong life. Capacitors are ultrahigh-grade polypropylene for extremelylow loss. All switches and compo-nents are of the highest quality forlong life and reduced distortion ofall types.The network also facilitates bi-wiring as necessary, using short-ing straps where only a single-wire connection is desired.The HF trim control allows fine-tun-ing of the high-frequency outputlevel to the acoustics of the lis-tening space as well as to thelistener’s liking.EXTERNALCONNECTIONSThe all-metal, gold-plated, 5-waybinding-post input connectorsprovide for bi-wiring, which isexplained in detail later in thisguide.ENCLOSURESThe enclosure design of the S4800minimizes coloration by dramati-cally reducing panel radiation. It isconstructed from 1-inch (25mm)-thick MDF.The enclosure’s unusual thickness,along with the SonoGlass hornassembly, add up to the lowest-vibration, most acoustically inertloudspeaker enclosure presentlypossible to construct.
