13CooktopNotes:• A properly adjusted burner with clean ports will lightwithin a few seconds. If using natural gas, the flamewill be blue with a deeper blue inner cone.If the burner flame is yellow or is noisy, the air/gasmixture may be incorrect. Contact a service technicianto adjust. (Adjustments are not covered by thewarranty.)With LP gas, slight yellow tips on the flames areacceptable. This is normal and adjustment is notnecessary.• With some types of gas, you may hear a “popping”sound when the surface burner is turned off. This is anormal operating sound of the burner.• If the control knob is turned very quickly from HIGH toLOW, the flame may go out, particularly if the burner iscold. If this occurs, turn the knob to the OFF position, wait several seconds and relight the burner.• The flame should be adjusted so it does not extendbeyond the edge of the pan.To prevent the cooktop from discoloringor staining:• Clean cooktop after each use.• Wipe acidic or sugary spills as soon as the cooktop hascooled as these spills may discolor theporcelain.Unlike a range with standard gas burners, this cooktop does not lift-up nor is itremovable. Do not attempt to lift thecooktop for any reason.Burner GratesThe grates must be properly positioned before cooking. When installing the grates, place the tab ends toward thecenter, matching the straight bars.Improper installation of the grates may result in chipping ofthe cooktop.Sealed BurnersThe sealed burners of your range are secured to the cooktopand are not designed to be removed. Since the burners aresealed into the cooktop, boilovers or spills will not seepunderneath the cooktop. However, the burner should be cleaned after each use. Thecap portion of the burner is easily removed for cleaning. (Seepage 6 for cleaning directions.)The burner capss must be correctly placed on the burnerbase for proper operation of the burner.High Performance BurnerThere is one 16,000 BTU* high speed burner on your range, located in the right front position. This burner offers higherspeed cooking that can be used to quickly bring water to aboil and for large-quantity cooking.Low Turn Down BurnerThis burner is located in the left or rightrear position. The simmer burner offers alower BTU flame for delicate sauces ormelting chocolate.* BTU ratings will vary when using LP gas.Dual Ring BurnerDo not operate the burners without a pan on the grate. The grate’s porcelain finish may chip without a pan toabsorb the heat from the burner flame.Use care when stirring food in a pot/pan sitting on the burnergrate. The grates have a smooth finish for ease of cleaning. The pot/pan will slide if the handle is not held. This may resultin spilling of hot food items and may be a burn hazard.Although the burner grates are durable, they will graduallylose their shine and/or discolor, due to the high temperaturesof the gas flame. The cooking surface is equipped with adual ring burner located in the left frontposition. To operate, push in on thecontrol knob and turn counterclockwise tolight the burner. Continue turning untilthe desired setting is reached. Thelighting sequence is: inner burner on HIGH,then inner burner on LOW, then both ringson HIGH, then both rings on LOW.
