Before operating this machine, remove tie, rings,watches and other jewelry, and roll sleeves up pastthe elbows. Do not wear loose clothing. Confinelong hair. Non-slip footwear or anti-skid floor stripsare recommended. Do not wear gloves.8. Wear ear protectors (plugs or muffs) duringextended periods of operation.9. Some dust created by power sanding, sawing,grinding, drilling and other construction activitiescontain chemicals known to cause cancer, birthdefects or other reproductive harm. Someexamples of these chemicals are:10. Lead from lead based paint.11. Crystalline silica from bricks, cement and othermasonry products.12. Arsenic and chromium from chemically treatedlumber.13. Your risk of exposure varies, depending on howoften you do this type of work. To reduce yourexposure to these chemicals, work in a well-ventilated area and work with approved safetyequipment, such as face or dust masks that arespecifically designed to filter out microscopicparticles.14. Do not operate this machine while tired or underthe influence of drugs, alcohol or any medication.15. Make certain the switch is in the OFF positionbefore connecting the machine to the powersupply.16. Make certain the machine is properly grounded.17. Make all machine adjustments or maintenance withthe machine unplugged from the power source.18. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches. Form ahabit of checking to see that keys and adjustingwrenches are removed from the machine beforeturning it on.19. Keep safety guards in place at all times when themachine is in use. If removed for maintenancepurposes, use extreme caution and replace theguards immediately.20. Make sure the drill press is firmly secured to thefloor or bench before use.21. Check damaged parts. Before further use of themachine, a guard or other part that is damagedshould be carefully checked to determine that it willoperate properly and perform its intended function.Check for alignment of moving parts, binding ofmoving parts, breakage of parts, mounting and anyother conditions that may affect its operation. Maintain a balanced stance at all times so that youdo not fall or lean against the spindle or othermoving parts. Do not overreach or use excessiveforce to perform any machine operation.29. Use the right tool at the correct speed and feedrat e. Do not force a tool or attachment to do a jobfor which it was not designed. The right tool will dothe job better and more safely.30. Use recommended accessories; improperaccessories may be hazardous.
