114K-Net Network nodeQuick StartThe factory default values in the K-Net PROM have the network node operationdisabled. To enable the K-Net node, the NETALIAS and the NETCALL must be entered. The NETALIAS is usually a mnemonic that gives users an idea about where the node islocated (other network nodes do not care what the alias is). For example, SUTNE is agood NETALIAS for Sutton, Nebraska. The NETCALL is the callsign of the node. TheNETCALL consists of your callsign plus an optional ssid (Example - KA0DNV-1). It mustbe different from any other callsign used in the KPC-3 Plus (MYPBBS, MYALIAS,MYNODE, etc.). Use the DISPLAY ID command to make sure that the NETCALL youselect is different from the other callsigns that are in use by the KPC-3 Plus. Manytimes, local "customs" will serve as guidelines for what NETALIAS and NETCALL touse.Enter the NET ALIAS:cmd: NETALIAS SUTNESet the NETCALL:cmd: NETCALL KA0DNV-1This command will cause the KPC-3 to perform a soft reset as memory is allocated fornode operation. Your K-Net node is now in operation! There are six additional "NET" commands that are only available from the commandprompt of the KPC-3 Plus. These commands and their current settings can be displayedwith the DISP N command.cmd: DISPLAY N NETBUFFS 32NETCIRCS 5NETDESTS 25NETLINKS 10NETROUTE 5NETUSERS 5Other node commands are accessed by connecting to the node, either locally with yourterminal, or remotely. If connected remotely, sysop access (see SYSOP command) isrequired to list and change sysop related parameters. NOTE: RTEXT command in theKPC-3 Plus must be set to allow remote sysop access. Following the above example:cmd: C SUTNE
