42 ENGLISH• Keep all cables away from heat dissipating metalparts.• If your car’s ignition does not have an ACC position, connect the ignition wires to a power source thatcan be turned on and off with the ignition key. If youconnect the ignition wire to a power source with aconstant voltage supply, such as with battery wires, the battery may be drained.• If the fuse blows, first make sure the wires are nottouching to cause a short circuit, then replace the oldfuse with one with the same rating.• Insulate unconnected wires with vinyl tape or othersimilar material. To prevent a short circuit, do notremove the caps and do not let the cable out at theends of the unconnected wires or the terminals.• Secure the wires with cable clamps and wrap vinyltape around the wires that comes into contact withmetal parts to protect the wires and to prevent shortcircuit.• Connect the speaker wires correctly to the terminalsto which they correspond. The unit may be damagedor fail to work if you share the · wires or groundthem to any metal part in the car.• When only two speakers are being connected to thesystem, connect both connectors either to the frontoutput terminals or to the rear output terminals (donot mix front and rear). For example, if you connectthe ª connector of the left speaker to a front outputterminal, do not connect the · connector to a rearoutput terminal.Installation and ConnectionInstallation and ConnectionBefore installationPrecautions on installation and connection• Mounting and wiring this product requires skills andexperience. For best safety, leave the mounting andwiring work to professionals.• Mount the unit so that the mounting angle is 30° orless.• Make sure to ground the unit to a negative 12 V DCpower supply.• Do not install the unit in a location exposed to directsunlight or excessive heat or humidity. Also avoidplaces with too much dust or the possibility of watersplashing.• Do not use your own screws. Use only the screwsprovided. If you use the wrong screws, you coulddamage the unit.• After the unit is installed, check whether the brakelamps, blinkers, wipers, etc. on the car are workingproperly.• Do not press hard on the panel surface wheninstalling the unit to the car. Otherwise scratches, damage, or failure may result.• If the power is not turned on (“Miswiring DC OffsetError”, “Warning DC Offset Error” is displayed),the speaker wire may have a short circuit or havetouched the chassis of the car and the protectionfunction may have been activated. In this case, thespeaker wire should be checked.WARNINGS• DO NOT connect the ignition wire (red) and thebattery wire (yellow) to the car chassis (ground), youmay cause a short circuit, that in turn may start a fire.• DO NOT cut out the fuse from the ignition wire (red)and the battery wire (yellow). The power supply mustbe connected to the wires via the fuse.• Always connect the ignition wire (red) and thebattery wire (yellow) to the power source runningthrough the fuse box.CAUTIONS• Install this unit in the console of your car.• Do not touch the metal parts of this unit during andshortly after the use of the unit. Metal parts such asthe heat sink and enclosure become hot.• When parking at a low ceiling area, turn off the unitto store the antenna. As when the unit is installed inthe car with the function of auto antenna; the radioantenna extends automatically when you turn onthe unit with the power control wire connected.(Page 45)
