Before Use5EnglishÑ Acquiring GPS signalThe first time you turn on this unit, you mustwait while the system acquires satellite signalsfor the first time. This process could take upto several minutes. Make sure your vehicleis outdoors in an open area away from tallbuildings and trees for fastest acquisition.After the system acquires satellites for the firsttime, it will acquire satellites quickly each timethereafter.Ñ About GLONASSThis unit uses Global Navigation Satellite System(GLONASS) in addition to GPS.Combining GPS and GLONASS can refinepositioning accuracy than using GPS only.Ñ Caution for Smartphone UsersSimultaneously running multiple applicationson your smartphone while screen sharing placesheavy demand on the microprocessor of thephone, potentially affecting communication andperformance.For best results while pairing with your Kenwoodreceiver, please be sure to close any unusedapplications.Safety Precautions andImportant InformationRead this information carefully before starting tooperate the KENWOOD Car Navigation Systemand follow the instructions in this manual.Neither KENWOOD nor Garmin shall be liable forproblems or accidents resulting from failure toobserve the instructions in this manual.# WARNINGFailure to avoid the following potentiallyhazardous situations could result in anaccident or collision resulting in death orserious injury.When navigating, carefully compare informationdisplayed on the navigation system to allavailable navigation sources, includinginformation from street signs, visual sightings,and maps. For safety, always resolve anydiscrepancies or questions before continuingnavigation.Always operate the vehicle in a safe manner.Do not become distracted by the navigationsystem while driving, and always be fully awareof all driving conditions. Minimize the amount oftime spent viewing the screen of the navigationsystem while driving, and use voice promptswhen possible.Do not enter destinations, change settings, oraccess any functions requiring prolonged useof the navigation system controls while driving.Stop your vehicle in a safe and legal mannerbefore attempting such operations.Keep the system volume at a low enough levelto be able to hear outside noises while driving.If you can no longer hear outside noises, youmay be unable to react adequately to the trafficsituation. This may cause accidents.The navigation system will not display thecorrect current position of the vehicle the firsttime it is used after purchase, or if the vehiclebattery is disconnected. GPS satellite signalswill soon be received, however, and the correctposition will be displayed.Be careful of the ambient temperature. Using thenavigation system at extreme temperatures canlead to malfunction or damage. Also note thatthe unit can be damaged by strong vibration,by metal objects, or by water getting inside theunit.
