Before Use6# CAUTIONFailure to avoid the following potentiallyhazardous situations may result in injury orproperty damage.The navigation system is designed to provideyou with route suggestions. It does not reflectroad closures or road conditions, weatherconditions, or other factors that may affect safetyor timing while driving.Use the navigation system only as a navigationalaid. Do not attempt to use the navigation systemfor any purpose requiring precise measurementof direction, distance, location, or topography.The Global Positioning System (GPS) is operatedby the United States government, which is solelyresponsible for its accuracy and maintenance.The government system is subject to changesthat could affect the accuracy and performanceof all GPS equipment, including the navigationsystem. Although the navigation system is aprecision navigation device, any navigationdevice can be misused or misinterpreted and,therefore, become unsafe.Ñ IMPORTANT INFORMATIONVehicle Battery PreservationThis navigation system can be used when theignition key is turned to ON or ACC. To preservethe battery, however, it should be used withthe engine running whenever possible. Usingthe navigation system for a long time with theengine switched off can cause the battery to rundown.Map Data InformationOne of the goals of Garmin is to providecustomers with the most complete andaccurate cartography that is available to us ata reasonable cost. We use a combination ofgovernmental and private data sources, whichwe identify in product literature and copyrightmessages displayed to the consumer. Virtuallyall data sources contain some inaccurate orincomplete data. In some countries, completeand accurate map information is either notavailable or is prohibitively expensive.How to read this manual• The screens and panels shown in this manual areexamples used to provide a clear explanation ofoperations.For this reason, they may be different from the actualscreens or panels, or some display patterns may bedifferent from the actual ones.• Display language: English is used for the purposeof explanation.
