5CHArGING THE BATTEry PACKThe battery pack is not charged at the factory; charge it beforeuse.ATTENTION: Always switch OFF a transceiver equipped with abattery pack before inserting the transceiver into the charger.1 Plug the AC adapter cable into thejack on the rear of the charger.2 Plug the AC adapter into an ACoutlet.3 Slide a battery pack or transceiverequipped with a battery pack intothe charging slot of the charger.• Make sure the metal contacts of thebattery pack mate securely with thecharger terminals.• The indicator lights red andcharging begins.4 When charging is complete, theindicator lights green. Remove thebattery pack or transceiver from thecharger.• It takes approximately 3 hours tocharge the battery pack.• When the charger will not be usedfor a long time, unplug the ACadapter from the AC outlet.Charging slotIndicatorNote:◆ When the indicator blinks red, the battery pack is eitherdefective or the battery pack contacts are not properly matedwith those of the charger.◆ The ambient temperature should be between 4°F and 04°F(5°C and 40°C) while charging is in progress. Charging outsidethis range may not fully charge the battery.◆ The battery pack life is over when its operating time decreases eventhough it is fully and correctly charged. Replace the battery pack.
