7Scanning the channeLSYou can scan the transceiver channels to search for a signal.When the transceiver verifies a signal on a channel, it proceedsto check whether or not its QT/ DQT setting matches thatwhich is set up on your transceiver (if you have set a channelwith QT/ DQT). If the QT/ DQT matches, the transceiver stopsat the channel and opens the squelch so you can listen to thecall. If the QT/ DQT does not match, the call is ignored andscanning continues.Before you can use the scan function, ensure that it isactivated. You can turn the scan function (the ability to performscan) ON or OFF in Setting mode. With the transceiver power OFF, press and hold the MENUkey while turning the transceiver power ON (for 1 second). Press the or key to select “ ”. Press the MENU key then press or to select “ ”(scan function disabled) or “ ” (scan function enabled).• If you select “ ”, you will no longer be able to performscan by pressing and holding the key {page 18}. Press the MENU key to exit the selection. Press the PTT, MON, or CAL key to exit Setting Mode.
