EchoLink-2■ Selecting a Transmit SpeedSome repeaters may not respond correctly if a code istransmitted at fast speed. If this happens, change theEchoLink transmission speed from FAST (default) toSLOW.1 Enter Menu mode and access Menu 205.2 Set the speed to FAST or SLOW.SETTING UP EchoLink Sysop MODEConnect the TM-D710 to a personal computer to use thesystem as a node station for EchoLink relaying. When connecting to a personal computer and using theEchoLink Sysop mode, the hard flow control operationRTS and CTS computer terminals operate the same asand are changed with the SQC (squelch control signaloutput to the computer) and PKS (transmit control signalinput from the computer) data terminals. The current band becomes the same as the data bandwhich is selected in menu No. 517, regardless of thetransmission band and operation band.Use the PG-5H (interface cable kit) when connecting to apersonal computer.1 Turn the transceiver power OFF.2 Press [PF2] + Power ON to turn EchoLink SysopMode ON.• The icon appears on the display when EchoLink Sysopmode is ON.• When the audio signal is output to the PC side, theicon blinks.• To turn EchoLink Sysop Mode OFF, press [PF2] + PowerON again.EchoLink Sysop Mode ON EchoLink Sysop Mode OFFPCterminal PC PCterminal PCTxD g RxD TxD g RxDRxD f TxD RxD f TxDSQC g CTS RTS g CTSPKS f RTS CTS f RTSGND n GND GND n GNDNote:◆ When using EchoLink Sysop mode, perform the following settings(1) ~ (4).(1) Set the SQC output setting (Menu No. 520) to “SQL”.(2) When unnecessary noise signals, etc., are sent from the linkstation to the internet while CTCSS and DCS are active, usecan verify the usage condition of the operating frequency bysetting “EchoLink RX Monitor” ([Edit] > [Menu] > [Transmit/Receive]) via the MCP-2A to “Busy Only”.Because of this, when EchoLink Sysop mode is ON, allreceived signals on the DATA band are output from thespeaker irregardless of a matching CTCSS or DCS signal.(Voice signals are output from the DATA terminal only whenthe CTCSS or DCS signals match.)(3) To avoid having the EchoLink software detecting a busy stateeven when the transceiver power is turned OFF, set the “SQCOutput Logic” ([Edit] > [Data Terminal]) via the MCP-2A to“High”.(When performing this setting, ensure that the EchoLink’ssoftware “Invert Sense” setting in the RX Ctrl tab of the SysopSetup window is not checked.)(4) When the audio level adjustment range on your personalcomputer is insufficient, adjust the AF output level “PR1Pin Output Level” ([Edit] > [Data Terminal]) and AF inputsensitivity “PKD Pin Input Level” ([Edit] > [Data Terminal]) ofthe transceiver via the MCP-2A. Adjustments can be made insteps of 6dB.◆ The settings in numbers 2 ~ 4 (above) can be performed onlyusing a MCP-2A.◆ In the older version of the MCP-2A, there are times when themenu position is not different. Use MCP-2A version 3.0 and later.◆ When EchoLink Sysop mode is ON, it cannot communicate withthe MCP-2A. When using the MCP-2A, be sure to turn EchoLinkSysop mode OFF.Data communications cableSerial communications cableTo PC audio terminalPink: To microphone input terminalGreen: To line out terminalTo PC 9-pin D-SUBterminal
