Keysight M8000 Series of BER Test Solutions User Guide 215User Interface - M8020A Display Views 4Using AWG Frequency Response Calibration for Improved Signal PerformanceKeysight recommends performing signal calibration within the AWGsystem (M8195A/M8196A) for DUT testing. In other words, the specific channel of the AWG must be calibrated withspecific cables and connectors that are used between the AWGs DATAOUT and the DUTs RX port.To perform the phase/frequency response calibration, you require aDCA-X and DCA-M sampling scope with a receiver module above 30 GHz.Alternatively, you may use a DSA-Z series real-time scope, which iscapable of signal analysis above 30 GHz. Generally, a better signal qualityis achieved when this calibration is performed using a sampling scope ascompared to the calibration performed using a real-time scope.A S-Parameter file is generated as a result of performing this calibrationusing IQTools, which can be imported as a De-Embedding filter into theM8070A software. For details on how to perform these steps, refer toIQToolsPhaseFrequencyResponseCalibration.pdf, which is available withinthe M8070A documentation folder.Selecting Line CodingYou can define the line coding for a M8195A/M8196A Data Out portthrough the Parameters window. The M8195A/M8196A Data Out portsupports NRZ and PAM4 line coding.NOTE Make sure to use the similar line coding of all Data Out ports assigned tothe same sequence of M8195A/M8196A. An "Auto Correction" windowwill appear if you select different line coding. Clicking on the "Allow"button present on this window, applies the same line coding on allData Out ports.
