Getting Started281Turning Off the PowerA Make sure the exposure glass cov-er or the ADF is in the right posi-tion.B Press the operation switch.The On indicator goes out.Note❒ Even if you press the operationswitch, the indicator does notgo out, the blinks in the follow-ing cases:• When the exposure glass cov-er or ADF is open.• During communication withexternal equipment.• When the hard disk is active.• If a file is waiting to be trans-m i t t e d w i t h i n t h e n e x tminute using the “Send Lat-er” facsimile function.Turning Off the Main PowerImportant❒ Do not turn off the main powerswitch when the On indicator is litor blinking. Doing so may result indamage to the hard disk or memo-ry.❒ Be sure to turn off the main powerswitch before pulling out the pow-er plug. Not doing this may resultin damage to the hard disk ormemory.A Make sure the On indicator is notlit.B Open the switch cover, and thenturn off the main power switch.The main power indicator goesout.-When the fax unit (optional) isinstalledWhen the main power switch isturned off while using the facsimilefunction, waiting fax and print jobsmay be canceled, and incoming faxdocuments not received. If you haveto turn off this switch for some rea-son, follow the procedure below.Important❒ Make sure 100% is shown as avail-able memory on the display beforeturning off the main power switchor unplugging the power cord. Faxfiles in memory are deleted anhour after you turn off the mainpower switch or unplug the powercord. See ”Power Failure Report”,Facsimile Reference tures>.❒ The On indicator does not go out,but blinks in dial-in mode even ifyou press the operation switch.When this happens, check the ex-planations below, and turn off themain power switch.• The computer is not controllingthe machine.• The machine is not receiving afax.
