Points of Interest (POI)The Magellan RoadMate receiver haspreloaded POIs that can be used as adestination for a route. Selecting a restaurantor finding a gas station nearby is at yourfingertips.Creating a Route to a POI by CategoryPOIs are categorized into unique categoriesfrom gas stations to tourist attractions. Most,but not all categories are further organizedinto subcategories. Restaurants have, forexample, several subcategories that provide away to search for restaurants serving Chinesefood, fast food, or other favorites.1. From the Main Menu, tap the Points ofInterest icon.2. Tap one of the POI categories in the list.3. If the next screen contains a list ofsubcategories, tap one of the POIsubcategories in the list to further narrowthe search.4. POIs near your current position aredisplayed. You can tap “Near...” fordifferent search criteria (Near CurrentPosition, Near City, or Near Address).If you select Near City or Near Addressyou will need to enter the city or addressinformation.5. Select the POI desired from the list ofPOIs.6. The ‘Go’ screen appears with the addressof the selected location, the estimatedtime of arrival (ETA), the distance totravel, and the routing method (e.g.Fastest Time).(optional) Tap Options if you wantto change the routing method. Youcan select from Fastest Time, ShortestDistance, Mostly Freeways or Least Use ofFreeways.7. Tap the large Go button on the rightto return to the Map screen and beginnavigating to the POI selected.Creating a Route to a POI by Name1. From the Main Menu, tap the Points ofInterest icon.2. Tap the Search By Name button.3. Spell the name of the POI to be used asthe destination. You don’t need to enterthe full name, but the more charactersyou enter, the easier it will be to find theexact POI you are searching for. Tap
