FastenerNOTE: If you connect a vacuum cleaner to your saw, cleaner operations can be performed.► Fig.42Securing workpieceWARNING: It is extremely important to alwayssecure the workpiece correctly with the vise.Failure to do so mayresult in serious personalinjury and cause damage to the tooland/or the workpiece.WARNING: When cutting a workpiece that islonger than the support base of the saw, thematerial should be supported the entire lengthbeyond the support base and at the same height tokeep the material level. Proper workpiece supportwill help avoid blade pinch and possible kickbackwhich may result in serious personal injury.Do not rely solelyon the vertical viseand/or horizontal vise to secure the workpiece. Thinmaterial tends to sag. Support workpiece over itsentire length to avoid blade pinch and possibleKICKBACK.► Fig.43: 1. Support 2. Turn baseVertical viseWARNING: Secure the workpiece firmlyagainst the turn base and guide fence with thevise during all operations. Otherwise the materialmay move during the cutting operation, causedamage to the blade, and be thrown which mayresult in loss of control andserious personal injury.Install the vertical vise on either the left or right side ofthe guide fence. Insert the vise rod into the hole in theguide fence and tighten the lower screw to secure thevise rod.► Fig.44: 1. Vise arm 2. Vise knob 3. Guidefence4. Turn base 5. Lower screw 6. Upper screw7. Vise rodPosition the vise arm according to the thickness andshape of the workpiece and secure the vise arm bytightening the upper screw. If the upper screw contactsthe guide fence, install the upper screw on the oppositeside of vise arm. Make sure that no part of the toolcontacts the vise when lowering the handle fully. Ifsome part contacts the vise, re-position the vise. Pressthe workpiece flat against theguide fence and the turn base.Position the workpiece at the desired cutting positionand secure it firmly bytightening the vise knob.Attaching the shoulder strapOptional accessoryCAUTION: Be sure to remove the shoulderstrap before operating the tool. The shoulderstrap may be entangled and cause injury.CAUTION: Be sure to attach the hooks of theshoulder strap to the tool securely. If the hooksare attached incompletely, they may come off andcause injury. The shoulder strap is convenient for transporting thetool. Attach the hooks of the shoulder strap to the toolas shown in the figure.► Fig.45: 1. Shoulder strap 2. HookOPERATIONWARNING: Make sure the blade is notcontacting the workpiece, etc. before the switchis turned on. Turning the tool on with the blade incontact with the workpiece may result in kickback andserious personal injury.WARNING: After a cutting operation, do notraise the blade until it has come to a completestop. The raising of a coasting blade may result inserious personal injury and damageto the workpiece.NOTICE: Before use, be sure to release thehandle from the lowered position by pulling thestopper pin.NOTICE: Do not apply excessive pressure on thehandle when cutting. Too much force may result inoverload of the motor and/ordecreased cutting efficiency. Pressdown handle with only as much force as necessaryfor smooth cutting andwithout significant decrease in bladespeed.NOTICE: Gently press down the handle toperform the cut. If the handle is pressed down withforce or if lateral force is applied, the blade mayvibrate and leave a mark (saw mark) in the workpieceand the precision of the cut may be impaired.Press cutting (cutting smallworkpieces)► Fig.46
