Part Number 000007345 2/14 37Section 4MaintenanceCleaning and SanitizingGENERALYou are responsible for maintaining the ice machine inaccordance with the instructions in this manual.Maintenance procedures are not covered by thewarranty.Clean and sanitize the ice machine every six months forefficient operation. If the ice machine requires morefrequent cleaning and sanitizing, consult a qualifiedservice company to test the water quality andrecommend appropriate water treatment. An extremelydirty ice machine must be taken apart for cleaning andsanitizing.Manitowoc Ice Machine Cleaner and Sanitizer are theonly products approved for use in Manitowoc icemachines.CLEANING/SANITIZING PROCEDUREThis procedure must be performed a minimum of onceevery six months.• The ice machine and bin must be disassembledcleaned and sanitized.• All ice produced during the cleaning and sanitizingprocedures must be discarded.• Removes mineral deposits from areas or surfacesthat are in direct contact with water.PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE CLEANINGPROCEDURE• This procedure cleans all components in the waterflow path, and is used to clean the ice machinebetween the bi-yearly cleaning/sanitizing procedurewithout removing the ice from the bin/dispenser.• This technology will also allow initiation andcompletion of a clean or sanitize cycle, after whichthe ice machine automatically starts ice makingagain.EXTERIOR CLEANINGClean the area around the ice machine as often asnecessary to maintain cleanliness and efficientoperation.Wipe surfaces with a damp cloth rinsed in water toremove dust and dirt from the outside of the icemachine. If a greasy residue persists, use a damp clothrinsed in a mild dish soap and water solution. Wipe drywith a clean, soft cloth.The exterior panels have a clear coating that is stainresistant and easy to clean. Products containingabrasives will damage the coating and scratch thepanels.• Never use steel wool or abrasive pads for cleaning.• Never use chlorinated, citrus based or abrasivecleaners on exterior panels and plastic trim pieces.! CautionUse only Manitowoc approved Ice Machine Cleanerand Sanitizer for this application (ManitowocCleaner part number 94-0546-3 and ManitowocSanitizer part number 94-0565-3). It is a violation ofFederal law to use these solutions in a mannerinconsistent with their labeling. Read andunderstand all labels printed on bottles before use.!
