The retaining bracket fits into the space that wasoccupied by the expansion slot cover.10. Reinstall the screw in the threaded hole. Be sure to push the bracket slot upagainst the screw before you tighten it. If this is not done, the bracket mayinterfere with an adjacent bracket.11. Connect any external cables (if they are needed) to the installed optionboard.12. Replace the left side panel and close the front panel.13. Plug in the system power cord, and power on the system.Removing an Option BoardNote: Expansion slot covers must be installed on allvacant slots to maintain the electromagnetic emissionscharacteristics of the system and to assure proper cooling ofthe system components.1. Power off the system and ensure it is disconnected from the AC powersource.2. Open the front door and remove the left side panel as described earlier inthis chapter.3. Disconnect any cables attached to the option board you are removing.4. Remove and save the option board retaining bracket screw.
