1. Installing Internal Optional DevicesExpress5800/R120g-2E User's Guide130Chapter 2 Preparations1.24 2.5-inch Hard Disk DriveThe server has an expansion bay for connecting 2.5-inch hard disk drive on the front of 16x 2.5-inch drivemodels and 26x 2.5-inch drive models, and the rear of the 26x 2.5-inch drive models and 3.5-inch drive models(when a 2.5-inch additional HDD cage (on the rear) is installed).A hard disk drive mounted in a dedicated drive tray can be purchased. Install the hard disk drive on the serverwith it mounted in the drive tray.Important Use hard disk drives specified by NEC. Installing a third-party hard disk drivemight cause a failure of the server as well as the hard disk drive.Note the following precautions to install hard disk drives.• For onboard connection, hard disk drives having different capacities, types, or rotational speeds cannot beinstalled together.• In the RAID system, all the hard disk drives in an array group must have the same capacity, type, androtational speed.Unique slot numbers have been assigned to each slot.1.24.1 InstallationInstall a hard disk drive by using the following procedure.Note In the RAID system, use hard disk drives that have the same specifications(capacity, rotational speed, and standard) for each disk array.1. See Chapter 2 (1.3 Overview of Installation and Removal) for preparations.2. Locate the slot where you install the hard disk drive.Install hard disk drives in ascending order of slot number.3. Remove the dummy tray.Dummy trays are installed in every slot asstandard.Note Keep the removed dummy trays for future use.
