At the Microsoft SNMP Properties screen, there are three properties thatmust be set: Security — Limits the set of computers than can perform SNMPmanagement on this computer to those in the community and/or specificcomputer names the user provides. Traps — Limits the set of computers that receive traps from thiscomputer to those in the community and/or specific computer names theuser provides.Note: For an SNMP management console, such as theNEC Desktop Manager and HP OpenView, IP addresses(for example, 157.123.176.100) must be entered in theTraps for “Public Community” to receive traps from the NECSNMP agents.For the NEC SNMP Agent to send a trap to the NEC SNMPDesktop Manager, the port number can be configured fromthe registry:"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Packard BellNEC,Inc.\PBNEC SNMP Desktop Agent\Port Number".The default port number is set to 55593. Agent — Allows the user to specify a contact name and location for thecomputer.6. Edit the properties.7. Click OK to return to the Network screen.8. Click Close to return to the Windows screen.
