PrintingDuring a printing operation, do not stop the print headmanually or touch the area within the print head carriagepath.1. Printer does not print/receive data.• Check that the printer is connected to the electricalpower supply and On Line (the Power and On Line lightindicators on the operator panel should be lit).• Check the physical (cables) and logical (application anddriver) connections between the printer and host.• Check that host system is switched on.• If you have an “ECP” computer, check that its printerport is Printer Port: LPTx. If necessary, change the portsetting in your system properties (see point 5 in“Installation”).• If the print head carriage does not move and the Powerand On Line light indicators flash rapidly, disconnect andreconnect the printer to the electrical power supply. Ifthe Power and On Line light indicators continue to flashrapidly, call the Technical Support Service.• Check that you have removed the protective film fromthe print head.• If the Power and On Line light indicators flash slowly,open the top cover to see the error condition indicatedby the print head carriage position.• Check whether the printer is in the special functions2. Printing stops.• If the On Line and Power light indicators flashsimultaneously, open the top cover to see the errorcondition indicated by the print head carriage position.• If only half or three-quarters of your page is printed andyou have an “ECP” computer, check that its printer portis Printer Port: LPTx. If necessary, change the portsetting in your system properties (see point 5 in“Installation”).• Check that paper is present and that it loads correctly.If there is no paper in the printer, load up to 40 sheets ofpaper in the ASF and press the Form Feed key on theoperator panel.See Chapter 3 for the correct paper loading procedure.• Change the print head.See Chapter 2 for replacing the print head.• Printing stops in the middle of the print job and the pageis ejected; check that the printer port on your PC isPrinter Port: LPTx. If necessary, change the portsetting in your system properties (see point 5 in“Installation”).
